Know Japan 2023-24: A Cultural, Industrial, and Educational Confluence
PCCOE's Japan Facilitation Centre proudly hosted Know Japan 2023-24, an enriching event that brought together Japanese delegations, industry leaders, and students from various institutes. The event featured a vibrant blend of cultural exhibitions, interactive industrial sessions, and insightful educational discussions, offering participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Japan's rich heritage while exploring cutting-edge innovations and academic prospects. It was a remarkable platform for cross-cultural exchange, fostering connections and collaborations that transcend borders.
The purpose of this event is to make the students aware of various learning avenues and career opportunities in Japan and to make the students aware of industries, education, and work culture in Japan.
PCCOE has a Japanese Language club where 120 students are learning the Japanese language. Students' interest in making a career in Japan is increasing daily, so to nurture students' interest and give them career opportunities in Japan, a PCCOE-IJBC KNOW JAPAN event was organized.
In "PCCOE-IJBC KNOW JAPAN," various technical and cultural activities are planned for two days. Technical events include technical seminars for engineering and science students, talks on higher education opportunities for engineering students, sessions for industry delegates, etc. Similarly, many Japanese art exhibitions and cultural activities are planned to introduce visitors to Japan's fantastic world and bring them closer to various aspects of Japanese culture and traditions.
The event was organized at two levels; at the first level, the industry delegates in the PCMC area were invited as a participant, and at the second level, PCCOE students and students in the science colleges in the PCMC area were invited as a participant.

Registration was open for all the participants from Science streams, especially Engineering across Pune. About 1000 participants enrolled from various colleges. Academicians of around 65 and Industry delegates of about 80 graced the occasion. The main highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Japan Facilitation Centre at the hands of Dr. FUKAHORI Yasukata, Consul-General, Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai, and Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Member, National Human Rights Commission.

Dr. Govind N Kulkarni, Director PCCOE, and Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh, President IJBC, addressed the gathering and welcomed Mr. Harshavardhan Patil, Ex-Minister Govt. of Maharashtra; the crowd was addressed by Hon. Shri. Dnyaneshwar Landge, Chairman PCET & Dr. FUKAHORI Yasukata
Various informative sessions were arranged: Introduction, Why Japan for career, Basic requirements like Language Proficiency By-Dr. Manasi Shirgurkar, Founder at The Japanese Hub and CareerWise.Ms. Shruti Channagiri, Founder, Hirameki Solutions, Pune, Dr. Umesh Joshi, MD AURO Pharmaceuticals, Pune. It was followed by informative sessions like Sector-wise Scope and Opportunities, Technological, Commercial by Mrs. Prachi Sunil Kulkarni, Fidel Technology, Japan & Sector-wise Scope and Opportunities, Technological, Commercial by Ms. Sakshi Roy, Mr. Kazunori Sasaki, University of Tokyo, Delhi Office & Mr. Haider Alam, MD and CEO Seimitsu, Pune. Opportunities for a Job and Career in Japan, Experience Sharing by Mrs. Swati Bhagwat, Proceed Technologies, Pune, Mr. Sachin Deshpande, InnoBytes, Pune and Mr. Prashant Pendse, Delivery Manager, TCS, Japan Operations.
Such informative sessions were held at PCET Auditorium and Seminar Hall. At the end of the sessions, a forum was opened for discussion with panelists and participants.
The first day's event was closed by two cultural Japanese activities: Art and Cultural Events Showcases 1. Ikebana - Ms. Arundhati Deshpande, Ikebana Chapter, Pune 2. Origami – Swati Dharmadhikari, Origami Mitra, Pune.
On Day 2
1. Elementary steps for planning a career in Japan Learning the Japanese Language by Ms. Amruta Musale, JALTAP, Pune, Ms. Ashwini Shiledar, Japanese Language Professional, Pune, and Ms. Madhura Mandke, TMV, Pune
2. How Mr. Sudhir Jaiswal, CEO and Board Member at ESSPL, Mr. Shishir Budhhisagar, Technical Director ImPage conducted Technical Education in Japanese Universities Function, Opportunities of Training and Placement.
3. Branch-wise scope and opportunities of Research, Projects, and Funding to Japan to Indian Aspirants by -Dr. Mahesh Gogate, Affiliated Researcher, Kyoto University, Japan
4.Japanese universities are keen to work with Indian institutes and Nodal Agencies useful in academic collaborations, IJBC Showcase by Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh, President IJBC
Ms Kazuko performed a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. As a part of a cultural event, students from PCCOE's Japanese language club performed a very famous Bon Odori (Japanese dance) and Akbar and Birbal's tale in the Japanese language.
Outcomes:
The outcomes of the Know Japan event, such as increased awareness of Japanese culture, strengthened ties between PCCOE and Japanese institutions, or any tangible results achieved.
Experience Japan 2023-24: A Fusion of Culture, Industry, and Education
The Japan Facilitation Centre at PCCOE recently hosted Experience Japan 2023-24, a dynamic event that united Japanese business leaders, cultural representatives, and students from various institutions. The event offered an engaging mix of cultural showcases, industrial insights, and academic sessions, allowing attendees to delve into Japan’s cultural richness and explore its industrial advancements and educational opportunities. This gathering served as a bridge between cultures, sparking meaningful interactions and fostering lasting connections across borders.
On October 12 , 2023 International Relations Cell conducted the Know Japan Event which focused on Career Guidance Sessions, Study and work in Japan, Internship and Summer School opportunities, Experience sharing, Opportunities of Training and Placement, Life in Japan, their Art, Culture and Technology.
Program started with addressing students by Dr. Roshni Raut’s (Dean International Relations Cell). Followed by Respected Director Govind Kulkarni Sir addressed the students. Glimpses of Culture: Vocal, Tabla, Harmonium were done by Ms. Fumie Bacco, Mr. Sachin Powgi and Mr. Saumitra from 10.10 am to 10.30 am. They were felicitated by Respected Director Govind Kulkarni Sir with Bouquets and Mementos.
Session-I was conducted by Dr. Hari Damle, visiting faculty, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune. On topic- Why Japan for Career, Basic requirements like Language Proficiency, Elementary steps for learning Japanese Language
Session- II was conducted by Mr. Nitin Sheth , Precitorq Transmission Private Limited, Ex-VP Mercedes Benz. He shared his Experience about Japanese work and Culture
Post Lunch Guidance Session was conducted by Japanese Consulate HAMURO Megumi, Consul, Culture and Information Section, Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai,
Session – III was conducted by Mr. Ulhas Acharya , Director Asian Bridge Consulting Pvt. Ltd. On Career Opportunities in Japan from 1.45 pm to 2.45 pm. After his session he was felicitated with a Bouquet and Memento.
Session-IV was conducted by Mr. Ajay Pandit and Mr. Yogesh Dhandal. It was an Interactive Session on Placement Opportunities in Japan , Industry Requirements. After their Session they were felicitated with Bouquet and Memento. At the end of the Event Information on Ikebana was given by Mrs. Arundhati Deshpande, from 3.30pm to 3.45 pm. After that students were escorted outside to see the display of Ikebana by Mrs. Swati Dharmadhikari and Origami by Origami Mitra.
The Event was a Great Success.
