A guest session was conducted on 5 February 2026 for Second Year Engineering students studying Japanese (N4 level) under the Multidisciplinary Minor (MDM) course. The session was delivered by Mr. Shalom Abhyankar, a final-year Engineering student from the E&TC Department and a JLPT N2 qualifier.
Mr. Abhyankar shared effective strategies for progressing to higher JLPT levels, emphasizing regular practice, vocabulary enhancement, grammar revision, and listening skills. He also explained grammar concepts from Lesson 28 of Minna no Nihongo (N4) using real-life examples, making the session engaging and easy to understand. The session motivated students to aim for higher proficiency in the Japanese language.
A visit was undertaken to the National Education Expo 2026 on 12 January 2026 at Sahakarmarshi Bhausaheb Thorat College of Agriculture, Sangamner. The Expo was organized by Amrutvahini and co-powered by the Urja Foundation as part of the Kalas Agri & Dairy Expo 2026. Dr. Sanjivani Sonar and Ms. Geetanjali Zambare visited the expo with the objective of participating in the conference sessions and exploring academic collaborations.
During the visit, a detailed and constructive discussion was held on the proposed ‘Gosamwardhan’ 14-credit course with Dr. Rajendra Wagh, Principal, and Mr. Ravindra Dashpute, Assistant Professor, Sahakarmarshi Bhausaheb Thorat College of Agriculture, Sangamner. The discussion focused on course structure, content, and implementation. Both dignitaries expressed keen interest in the initiative and assured their support in drafting the syllabus. Overall, the visit proved to be informative and beneficial for future academic collaboration.
The Department of MDS proposes to introduce a new Multidisciplinary Minor (MDM) course titled “Gosamwardhan (गोसंवर्धन)” from the academic year 2026–27. As a preliminary step towards syllabus development, a visit and interaction with a subject expert was planned and conducted on 22nd December 2025.
The visit involved a detailed discussion with Dr. Satya Varma, focusing on the scope, objectives, structure and multidisciplinary relevance of the proposed course. During the visit, Dr. Satya Prakash Varma also interacted with Dr. Nilkanth Chopade, Deputy Director; Dr. K. Rajeswari, Dean Academics and Dr. Leena Sharma, HoD, Applied Sciences & Humanities. The discussion was constructive and offered significant guidance for syllabus formulation and further course development. Overall, the visit proved to be purposeful and academically enriching.
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCoE) celebrated Bhartiya Bhasha Diwas on 11 December 2025 in accordance with the AICTE guidelines promoting Indian languages under the NEP. The event was organized by the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) in association with Applied Science & Humanities (ASH).
Dr. Anjali Oak, Professor of Practice for Sanskrit, was felicitated for her valuable contribution in designing the Sanskrit syllabus and developing learner-friendly study material for engineering students. Dr. Sanjivani Sonar, HoD–MDS, in her address explained the significance of Bhartiya Bhasha Diwas and the institute’s initiatives aligned with the AICTE circular.
Dr. Govind Kulkarni, Director, PCCoE, highlighted the importance of Sanskrit as a foundational Indian language and encouraged innovative methods to cultivate student interest. The event strengthened PCCoE’s commitment to preserving India’s linguistic heritage.
Dr. Sanjivani Sonar, HoD, Department of MDS, along with faculty member Dr. Ganesh Mundhe, interacted with Mr. Shekhar Mundada, State Minister and President, Maharashtra Gau Seva Ayog at the Animal Husbandry Office, Aundh, Pune on 9th December 2025 in connection with the proposed course “Gosamwardhan (गोसंवर्धन)”.
The discussion focused on the relevance, scope and societal importance of the Gosamvardhan course, as per the NEP guidelines the emphasis was on its alignment with animal welfare, indigenous cattle conservation, and sustainable rural development. The interaction was informative and provided valuable insights that will support the academic planning and development of the proposed course.
The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, in association with the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies, organised an alumni session on 3 December 2025 for B. Tech students of PCCoE learning the German language. The session aimed to enhance students’ cultural awareness through first-hand insights into life, education, and society in Germany.
The session was conducted by Ms. Lisa Soltendieck, a native German speaker and intern at the Goethe-Institut, Pune. Ms. Soltendieck shared valuable insights on the German education system, employment opportunities and workplace culture. Around 40+ B. Tech students actively benefited from the interactive session. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Pooja Potdar, German language faculty at PCCoE.
The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies, organised an alumni session on 11 October 2025 for B.Tech students of PCCoE learning the German language. The session aimed to guide students in choosing the right academic and career pathway while pursuing German as a foreign language during their B.Tech program.
The session was delivered by Ms. Shubhada Padwal, Product Strategist at Harman International, Pune. Ms. Padwal conducted an interactive session covering the benefits of learning German, preparation for master’s studies in Germany, essential skills for studying and working abroad, German work culture, and the country’s strong environmental and social awareness. 50+ B.Tech students actively participated and benefited from the session. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Pooja Potdar, German language faculty at PCCoE.
An interactive session was organized for the Second Year students on the multidisciplinary course Universal Human Values (UHV). The session aimed to address the queries and concerns of students regarding the nature of the course and its execution.
During the session, senior students shared their valuable experiences and insights, which not only helped to clarify doubts but also boosted the confidence of the juniors. The interaction fostered a sense of connection and understanding, creating a supportive peer-learning environment.
This initiative provided the juniors with practical perspectives on how to approach the course meaningfully, while also strengthening the bond between the senior and junior batches.
A Co-Teaching Session on Web Development with JavaScript was conducted on 13th September 2025 for Third Year Computer Engineering students from the Mechanical and ENTC departments, under the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies. The session, delivered by Mr. Shrikant Kokate, focused on JavaScript Web APIs such as Validation, History, and Geolocation APIs. With live demonstrations and interactive discussions, students gained practical insights into modern web technologies and shared highly positive feedback. A total of 24 students attended the event.
The Department of Multidisciplinary Studies at PCCOE conducted an Induction Program on July 8, 2025, for second-year B.Tech. students to introduce them to the Multidisciplinary Minor (MDM) courses. With 1005 students attending in two slots, the head of the department, Dr. Sanjivani Sonar highlighted the curriculum structure, registration process, and career benefits. Course coordinators presented 18 Minor courses, helping students make informed academic choices. Dr. K. Rajeshwari, Dean Academics, guided the students during the session.
A team of faculty members from Maratha Mitramandal College of Engineering visited PCCOE on 4th June 2025 to gain insights into the implementation of Multidisciplinary Minor (MDM) courses run be the department of Multidisciplinary Studies as per NEP 2020. Dr. Sanjivani Sonar, Head, Dept of MDS, provided detailed guidance on course structure, delivery and evaluation. An additional online session was organized which focused on language-based minors. The interaction greatly supported MMCOE's planning for similar initiatives and was appreciated for its clarity, relevance, and hospitality.
As part of the T.Y. MDM, Product Design and Development course, a practical session on Rapid Prototyping, was organized where a live demonstration by Dr. D. S. Lal on 3D printing technologies was conducted. Students explored both FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) and concrete printing methods. The interactive session offered valuable hands-on exposure, with active student participation and deep engagement. This session enhanced students’ understanding of the real-world applications of rapid prototyping.
At PCCoE, Indian Music has been introduced as a 14-credit Multidisciplinary Minor Course for engineering students, reflecting the institute's commitment to holistic and value-based education. To support and enrich this initiative, the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai, aimed at promoting the integration of Indian music and arts with technical education. This collaboration aims to foster multidisciplinary thinking and value-based learning, providing students with a holistic educational experience aligned with the vision of inclusive and balanced development. Through this MoU, we are sharing knowledge and laying the foundation for a prosperous, balanced, and responsive future.
The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities (AS&H) and the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies organized a Mini Conference on Universal Human Values (UHV) on October 26, 2024, for the second-year engineering students. Dr. Aprajita Singh, the UHV Western Regional Coordinator, presided over the conference alongside Mr. Mahesh Jadhav Bhaiya, the UHV Central Team Coordinator. The HSMC faculties guided the students in organizing the conference. This student-led initiative aimed at fostering ethical development and holistic growth in students through the principles of Universal Human Values. A total of 40 papers were presented during the conference
On 23rd October 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, PCCOE hosted a thought-provoking session titled "My Journey with English Literature" as part of its multidisciplinary English literature program.
The session was graced by Dr. Govind N. Kulkarni, Director of PCCOE, an avid reader and literature enthusiast. Dr. Kulkarni shared his profound experiences with English literature, highlighting its transformative power and its role in shaping perspectives across disciplines.
The event aimed to inspire students to explore the richness of literature, transcending academic boundaries, and to ignite their passion for lifelong learning. It was a memorable opportunity for attendees to connect with the universal essence of literature through the lens of a seasoned academic leader.
PCCOE is celebrating 25 years of academic excellence. As part of this celebration, a lecture series on the Indian Knowledge System has been organized. The first lecture in this series, Well-being as a Foundation for Technical Excellence, was delivered by Prof. Aashish Pandey from IIT Bombay on 13th November 2024.
This session provided an enriching experience for faculty members, and the question-and-answer segment led to thought-provoking discussions. It opened avenues for self-discovery and highlighted the importance of well-being.
