Curriculum Overview

Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

is a three year course, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE, New Delhi). MCA course comprises various subjects belonging to Information Technology, Management, Mathematics and Soft Skill. The project in each semester makes the students able to apply their skill and knowledge that they have gained in the corresponding semester.



In Second year the students can choose one of the four specialized tracks. The curriculum is designed to cater to the challenging opportunities being faced in Information Technology. The specialization approach would help students to develop basic and advanced skills in areas of their interest thereby increasing their level of expertise. This would further promote the Masters programme in focused areas and result in development of expert skills as per the demands of career opportunities. MCA course builds right platform for students to become successful Software professionals.

FDP on Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Domains: Outcome Based Education
Prof. Anjana R. Arakerimath and Prof. Sopan S. Aghav have attended one day Faculty Development Programme on "Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Domains: Outcome Based Education" at D. Y. Patil Institute of Management Studies, Pune. The FDP was organized on 3rd October 2017.

FDP on Planning and Assessment Guidelines for MCA Track Based Syllabus
Prof. Anjana R Arakerimath and Prof. Anand A. Jain attended FDP on “Planning and Assessment Guidelines for MCA Track Based Syllabus” on 3rd August 2017 organized by Institute of Industrial and Computer Management and Research (IICMR), Nigdi, in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The FDP was organized with the objective to finalize the assessment guidelines for major project work of the MCA curriculum. During FDP, Prof. Anjana and Prof. Anand suggested the assessment guidelines for major project work of MCA and shouldered the responsibility of finalizing the assessment guidelines for Track 3 projects.

Workshop on Service Oriented Architecture
MCA Department has successfully organized 5 days workshop on “Service Oriented Architecture” from 27th June 2017 to 1st July 2017. Service Oriented Architecture is the new course introduced in MCA curriculum by SPPU. The workshop was organized with the objective to understand the various concepts of Service Oriented Architecture and their uses in software development. Total 55 (43 Students, 12 Faculties) participants have participated in the workshop. From MCA Department, Prof. Bali Khurana, Prof. Rajkamal Sangole, Prof. Prakash Ukhalkar and Prof. Anand Jain have participated in the workshop.

Training on Selenium
MCA Department has successfully organized “One Week Training Program on Selenium Software Testing Tool” from 27th June to 1st July 2017 for MCA students. The workshop was inaugurated by the eminent guest speaker: Mr. Tushar Kute, Researcher, Mitu Technologies, Pune. The aim of the workshop was to extend MCA Department’s contribution towards supporting and strengthening the MCA Course Curriculum in the domain of Software Testing. The idea was to make the students aware of their prospective opportunities in this particular domain and to show them the path they have adopted in order to become successful professionals. The workshop was also organized with an aim to provide thorough understanding of Software Testing domain for Faculty Development. The PCCoE MCA faculty members and faculty members from other colleges in Pune also took active participation during this workshop from 27th June to 1st July 2017. Total 63 participants were present for this workshop. The workshop was anchored by event coordinator Prof. Dipali Railkar.

Workshop on Software Project Management and Quality Assurance Tools
MCA department has organized three days workshop on SPM and QA Tools from 7th January 2017 to 9th January 2017. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Adi Murthy. Workshop was coordinated by Mrs. Dipali Railkar.

Workshop on Python Programming
Prof. Anand Jain and Prof. Rajkamal Sangole participated in two days FDP on Python Programming on 6th and 7th January 2017. The workshop was organized by IMCC, in association with SPPU. Python Programming course is a part of MCA curriculum and introduced in 2015 in the curriculum.

FDP on MCA Track III: Information Management and Quality Control
Prof. P. B. Kulkarni, Prof. D. N. Railkar, Prof. A. A. Jain, Prof. P. P. Katyare, Prof. S. A. Aghav, Prof. S. N. Borkar and Prof. P. K. Ukhalkar from PCCoE MCA have participated in one day FDP on Track III: Information Management and Quality Control of MCA 2015 Syllabus and Discussion on Question paper pattern of Track I and Track III Subjects. This FDP was organized by Institute of Management and Career Courses (IMCC) and Savitribai Phule Pune University on Saturday, 17th Sept 2016 from 10am to 5pm.

FDP on MCA Track I: Software and Application Development
Prof. A. A. Jain and Prof. R. C. Sangole PCCoE MCA have participated in one day FDP on Track I : Software and Application Development of MCA 2015 Syllabus. This FDP was organized by Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of MCA and Savitribai Phule Pune University on Saturday, 27th August 2016 from 10am to 5pm.
