Student Development and Welfare

The objective of Student Development and welfare section is to encourage holistic development of the students including not only academics but also overall personality development through various extracurricular and co-curricular activities. This cell comprises of different cells and committees are committed to provide programs and opportunities that support students in achieving their overall development.

Various personal and professional skill development programs viz. Communication and Soft Skill programs, Aptitude Training, Technical Skill enhancement programs, Foreign Language Certification Courses, Personal and Spiritual Development Programs, Entrepreneurship Development Activities, and Preparation courses for competitive Examinations (Gate/GRE/CAT/MPSC/UPSC etc.) are made available on campus through various professional agencies. Students are given opportunities to develop and nurture their leadership qualities through Student Associations, Student Council, Student Cells and working as volunteers in various events organized at Department/college level.

We as a faculty will always be happy to guide and support the students for their development.

PCCOE IEEE & ITSA Induction program and Guru Purnima Celebration.

IT student Association and IEEE Student branch induction program and Gurupurnima celebration was organized on 16th July, 2019. The objective of the program was to welcome SE students and introduce them with departmental activities at brief, PCCOE IEEE student branch induction and ITSA induction ceremony. On the same day, on the occasion of the Gurupurnima , small program was also celebrated by the students. The honour of guest for the program was Mr. Gurav Sonawane, AISSMS IOIT Pune who is Winner of ieee yesist-12 prelims, finals to be held at bangkok on 7th -9th Sep 2019. Winner of makeathon of coep’s mindspark 2018, Vice head (student section representative) of IEEE Pune Section.

Objectives :

  • To hand over the ITSA office Charge to newly elected student team by Ex- ITSA Office bearer team.
  • To introduce different student development cells.
  • To introduce new student council representatives for SDW - 9 cells.
  • To conduct student meeting with IEEE Student Section Representative to give information about the IEEE student activities.
  • To involve more number of students in extracurricular activities technical & non technical.
  • To give a common platform for IT students to improve their Team Management, time Management and Communication Skills for the overall development.

First Year IT Engineering Induction Program

The First Year Engineering newly admitted students have joined PCCOE Campus on 9th August 2019. As a part of the detailed Schedule of Institute level Induction Program, at department level IT First Year Engg. Students Induction Program is organized on 10th August, 2019. Total 110 students of FE IT attended the event

Objectives:

  • To introduce various activities involved in IT Dept.
  • To make aware first year students with the 4 pillars philosophy and student activities.
  • To have an interaction with the SE, TE , BE students for the different task and activities done at dept level
  • To showcase different R&D activities that are done by students along with academics and Placements.

Outcome

  1. First year students are guided and motivated by all Faculty and introduced by ITSA student team for the different curricular and extra curricular activities.

Motivational Talk by Mr. Raghvan Koli

A motivational Talk was delivered by Mr. Raghavn Koli Author of “The Conqurer of Destiny” on 31st July 2019 for SE and TE students of IT. Total 100 students of IT were benefitted.

Objectives:

  • To motivate Engineering students for stress free life.
  • To aware them about their hobbies and how to pursue their hobbies.
  • To motivate how to balance the academics and hobbies.
  • To become fearless in overall life for achieving goals.

Outcomes:

  1. Students were motivated for getting things as per their interest but also guided for being focused and doing multiple task simultaneously.
  2. Students were guided for becoming fearless and to conquer their fears in their life.

Project Competition (BE) and Poster Competition (TE) organized with the objective to demonstrate the UG projects under various domain thrust areas like Health, Services and Entertainment etc on 10th April , 2019. The judge for the competition was Dr. Rajshree Jain, IEEE Pune Region (Treasurer). Total 11 Teams (BE Projects – 6 & TE Poster 5) 35 Students were participated.

Outcomes:

  • Students got the exposure to new improvements if any required in their BE projects for future scope.
  • Students got the problem analysis guidance by the evaluators.

Techlligent 2019
Pimpri Chinchawad College of Engineering, Pune has organized a National Level Technical Symposium “Techlligent 2019" on 3rd April 2019. It is a National level Technical fest which provides an opportunity to students from all around the country to showcase their Technical proficiency, their enthusiasm towards technology and skills to provide better solutions for Smarter India.

We as IT department have organized technical event “Shift Delete Bhrashtachar” and non-technical event “Logo Logic” Total no of participants were 30

Event was to identify the problems occurring through corruption and find the solutions to curd the corruption using new technologies. Total 10 Teams presented their solutions. Winners prizes: First 6000/- , Second 3000/- and Third 1000/-.

“Open Data Hackathon” organized under IEEE student Branch on 25th February 2019 to gain problem analysis skills and applying their knowledge of data processing to solve societal issues like tree plantation, Election System, Birth & Death Registration problem, Pollution Problem dataset. Total 53 students were participated. The experts were Mrs. Anita Kane, Principal Consultant, TCS, Mr. Nikhil VJ, GTFS Manager, World Resources Institute, Hyderabad.

Outcomes:

  • Students guided and motivated to select any dataset from Open Data Portal. Apply data cleaning and visualization process for PMC dataset.
  • Participants gained problem analysis skills and applying their knowledge of data processing to solve societal issues like tree plantation, Election System, Birth & Death Registration problem, Pollution Problem dataset.

Technical Expert Talk on “Use of Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Data Analytics.” organized under IEEE Student Branch by Dr. Surekha Deshmukh, Associate Professor, Chair Youth Professional Affinity Group., Electrical Engineering Department, PVG College of Engineering, Pune on 9th February 2019. Total 46 students and 5 Faculties were attended.

Outcome:

Students were guided and motivated to select the problems in real life and apply the solution using the knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Data mining.

Then evaluation of 31 teams was done by Mr. Mandar Khurjekar and Mr. Amar Kalvikatte. Students have presented the ideas and projects from different areas like Cryptography, Assistive Technology For The Deaf, Sentiment Analysis, IoT, Automation in Diagnosis, safer and labour free function of railway gate, Ethical hacking, Augmented Reality, Security, Digital System which will be benefited for society. Judges appreciated work of all participants and guided them, to make their work commercialize.

Valedictory was started by glimpses of the event. Mr. Mandar Khurjekar, delivered a talk on “IEEE Awareness and Upcoming Events in IEEE”. Then expert talk on “Innovation and Upcoming Trends in Industry and Role of Economics”, delivered by Mr. Amar Kalvikatte. Then prizes were announced, To appreciate the work done by students, two consolation prizes were announced by PCCoE, of Rs. 1000/- for each team.

Techlligent 2018
Pimpri Chinchawad College of Engineering, Pune has organized a National Level Technical Symposium “Techlligent 2018" on 25th Jan 2018. We as IT department have organized technical event “Play Placing” and non-technical event “Gaming” which contain Counter Strike CR and FIFA in Techlligent 2018. Total no of participant for breaking code were 35 and gaming code were 50.

Objectives

  1. To incorporate technical, non-technical and creative abilities among students.
  2. To evaluate students on the basis of their innovative models, programming and presentations skills, this will help them to thoroughly understand the depth of the topic and concept.
  3. To provide valuable suggestions and to motivate students in different research aspects, business (management) strategies and creative approaches/efforts.

RIPPLES2K17 got celebrated at the Information Technology Department of Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune on 22nd Sept 2017 in association with PCCOE ACM Student Chapter under the guidance of Dr. Swati Shinde (HOD IT) and ITSA Coordinator Ms. Bhakti Ratnapatrkhi which was a grand success and received overwhelming response.

Supporting this initiative, the Information Technology department organized events that gave students a platform to present themselves and extended their thinking capacity to bring useful and innovative ideas. Total 140 students were participated in the different events.

There were 4 major events organized by the students in association with excellent faculty members of the IT department. To give industry exposure, fruitful guidelines and channelize student’s ideas, well experienced alumni members were invited from industry along with the faculties of IT Department.

Objectives

  • To promote the creation and development of new ventures.
  • To provide support and funding to the most innovative business ideas from students.
  • To provide student entrepreneurs with direct exposure to possible mentors and/or investors.

Students presented their business ideas in very professional manner to judges. Students were supposed prepare presentations on following points:

  • Business Plan/Executive Summary.
  • Schedule of plan in detail i.e. start to the project and projected duration.
  • Intellectual Property Declaration (if required)
  • Funds requirements and its management, utilization.
  • Details of infrastructure requirements. This should include the Office Space (in sq.ft.), number of computers (max. of 5 nos), Internet Connectivity, Telephone, etc., any special laboratory facility or R&D support needed.

The program ended with valedictory ceremony at seminar hall at 4pm to 5pm which started with ‘Ganesh Vandana’ performance by Mr. Sudershan Kendre (SE IT). Glimpses of complete day were given through a small speech by Ms. Pornima Kotnis (ITSA SECRETORY) and video prepared by student coordinator Mr. Shubham Jagtap (TE IT). Followed by it winners of all competitions were honoured with prizes.

Guru Pournima

Guru Pournima was celebrated at IT department on 11th July 2017, under the guidance of Head of the department Dr. Swati Shinde and ITSA in charge Ms. Bhakti Ratnapatrkhi.

The orientation of the upcoming ITSA team was followed by event wherein, students got a platform to present their talent and extended their thinking capacity by gaining information on various topics. There was many other artistic talent showing events such as “Tabla vadan”, “Role play”, “Singing” which light hearted the occasion

  • Expert Talk on MS in USA Purdur University by Ms. Morla Workman,Assistant Director for International admission for Wayne,USA on 29th January 2019. Total 20 students were benefitted.
  • GRE/ToEFL awareness and Counselling was conducted by Mr. Anvesh Joshi from IMS Institute on 15th January 2019. Total 79 students were benefitted.
