In First Year, the students are aware about the necessary personality traits, attitude, behavioural attributes and skill sets to become responsible citizens and overall good human being. All possible efforts are taken to enhance enthusiasm among students for their participation and involvement in organizing and participating in curricular, co curricular and extracurricular activities. To strengthen this objective different activities are organized through readers club, cultural club, wall magazine and Techno-science club, YES!+ (Youth Empowerment and Skills) program for all the students.
Induction programme & Parents Meet 2016
An induction programme is an important process for bringing students into an Institution. It provides an introduction to the working & curricular environment within the institution. An induction programme is intended to invoke the student to be a all rounder, integrated member of college because we believe that it is essential to understand that how to march towards goal of becoming quality engineer. Keeping this in mind, First Year Engineering Department of our college organizes Induction Programme for students before the commencement of classes. This year also, we organized Induction Programme for all FE students who got admission as a new batch on 8th August 2016, at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium, Bhosari. Mainly parents & students are introduced about the overall culture and proceedings of our college.
Guest lecture on Success Programming Guest lecture on "Success Programming" by Mrs. Meera Natrajan (Director of My Growth Zone) was organised for Students from 10th October 2016 to 12th October 2016. The main objective of this guest lecture was to motivate the students through positive thinking and time management so that they can develop their skill sets. Her presentation skill was excellent and students are really motivated for upcoming exams.
Spectrun 2017, an annual technical symposium of First Year Engineering Department, PCCoE is started in 2008. The major objective of this event is to provide a platform exclusively to First Year Engineering students to express and apply their innovative ideas and hidden talents in the competitive technological scenario. Spectrum is organized to give an opportunity to students to expand their technical horizon and to apply the knowledge obtained from books to practical situations. The idea of Spectrum was conceived by Prof. S A Fulambarkar. Over many years since then, Spectrum has gathered momentum and the success gave the boost to the college to raise the stakes and host Spectrum on state level. Spectrum 2017 is organized for the tenth time and seventh time consecutively on the state level. The events were :
1. Circuit Wizard: Included debugging of faulty circuits.
2. Robosoccer: Included wired/wireless Robot which played soccer.
3. Brain – Dasher: Involved mathematical and logical puzzle.
4. C-Coder: Online competition of C-programming language.
5. Catapult: A model making competition.
6. Tech Treasure Hunt: To hunt your treasure through a technical path.
7. Contraption: Included a chain of energy conversion to spotting a plastic ball in the goal.
8. Short Movie Making: Involved making of 5-7 minute film on ''College Life of Engineers- Fun/Exiting facts about Engineers''
9. Paper Presentation: Papers were invited on the topic ''Technology as the core strength of the Nation''
Cumulatively we received 975 participants. This year we have received very good response from the esteemed institutes like COEP, AIT, PICT, Govt.Karad, Govt. Awasare, MIT Kothrud , etc.Convener for the event was Dr. Surabhi Sengar, Mr. Anand Birajdar as organizing secretary and Mrs. Puja Kate as treasurer. YES!+ YES!+ organized during 3rd - 7th Aug., 2016, wherein all students had participated. YES!+ graduates have been found to excel in their academics, extra-curricular and social responsibilities. Mr. Rahul Choudhary and Dr. Leena Sharma coordinated the event. PCB designing Workshop One day hands-on training workshop on ''Electronics Circuit Simulation and PCB Designing'' was organized under technoscience club on 25th February 2017. Students got hands on training experience on different circuit simulation softwares like NI multisim,sequel & PCB layout softwares. Mr. P.R.Sonawane, Mrs. Pranjal Jog, Dr. Priya joshi,Mrs.Puja Kate,Mrs. G.V.Saxena and Mrs.M.M.Chavan Coordinated the workshop.
Guest Lecture on Innovation Suit
Guest lecture was conducted for all divisions on 18th March, 2016 on "Innovation Suit". The resource person for the lecture was Mr.Suryakant Katti, Vice-President, Aditya Birla Group.
YES!+ - Art of Living
The purpose of education is to prepare a person for life. This course is organized every year in Semester I for first year engineering students in first week of commencement of classes. YES!+ is a powerful life-skills program, that challenges young people to reach their highest potential and has made a difference to thousands across the world. It was organized from 17 June 2015 to 22 June 2015 and 690 First Year Engineering students from our college have done this program in the academic year 2015-16.
English Proficiency Test
On basis of the basic knowledge of English, a test is conducted during first semester and based on results of this test; students have to undergo Basic English course. First year Department has conducted English proficiency Test for the students by Student development cell on 27th, 29th and 30th July 2015.
We provide a platform to express views and thoughts of the students in form of articles, poems, drawings and other such compositions to share with each other. The wall magazine is also utilized as a medium to increase interaction between students by having regular fortnight puzzles. A competition was organized under wall magazine, wherein the students had to present any social issue in a unique way. This competition was organized on 6th Oct 2015. 21 students participated in the competition, presenting the social issues in the form of articles, poems, posters; presentations. The objective of competition was to enhance the awareness of social issues.
Guest Lecture on Ethics and Moral Values
Organizing a guest lecture is a part of exposure to the students provided by the institution. Organizing a guest lecture gives an additional knowledge to the students on behalf of the experts. It's a privilege for the students to listen to the expert of a particular field, their views and experiences while working in their particular field. Guest lecture was conducted in three slots for the First year engineering students on 3rd, 5th and 15th August 2015, for all 11 Divisions in Seminar hall. This lecture was conducted by the resource person Mr. Anil Khurana & Director, Business Development Mrs. Jyoti Kappal, from Mindactive Consulting Pvt Ltd. The Topic for this Lecture was "Ethics and Moral values".
To create and nurture sense of self responsibility and make them realize what they owe to the society. Healthy, participative and most conducive environment is created for students' development and grooming to proceed on the right path in journey to be competent Engineers and individuals for tomorrow.
Presentation of Social Issues
A competition was organized under Wall Magazine in First year Engineering Department on 6th Oct, 2015 to "present any social issue in a unique way". Students participated in the competition, presenting the social issues in the form of articles, poems, posters, presentations. Mrs. A. A. Thomas, Mrs. Puja Kate and Ms. F. S. Bhavsar coordinated the event. The event was organized with an objective to enhance social awareness among students.
