In the era of technology driven world, the new generation look for an education which keep pace with the opportunities for their celebrated careers. Engineering education is a strong option which leads to successful career choices such as industry, research and innovation and start-ups. Now days the quality of engineering education is major concern of engineering aspirants, their parents, and even recruiters who employs the engineers after education.

PCCoE is driven by the a academic culture which is build to make the real difference in the knowledge, skills and behavior of students through learning experience for each instance they spend at the institute. Our theme and practice of “Value based Quality Education” shape engineers with competency and with strong sense of societal values.

Quality of the Teaching-Learning Process is the strength of PCCoE. We believe that the quality outcome depends on matured and well thought academic process. Our Teaching Learning process is stringent and disciplined. Each one of us from PCCoE family, the faculty, HODs, Deans, Principal and Management is by heart involved in this process to do their best. The quality of our process is ensured by ISO standards involves Plan-Do-Check-Act (P-D-C-A).

The Academic Programs like BE, ME, MCA and MBA visualize their Program Education Outcomes in terms of knowledge levels, exhibited skills and professional behavior of the students. These desired outcomes lay down the foundation of our teaching learning activities. We scrupulously plan and ensure attainment of these desired outcomes from each subject (course) being taught. The faculty delivers the contents through using appropriate Content Delivery Methods (CDMs) to the contents of course. Students learn the contents through Learning Methods (LMs) and the Assessment Methods (AMs) verify level of acquired contents by students.

We practice Outcome Based Education through the team of committed faculty and staff with the appropriate and adequate knowledge of roles and responsibilities. The Academic Planning and Outcome Monitoring are performed through the given team organization. The Program Accreditation Committee (PAC) for the respective program is an apex body which looks after the outcome evaluation, detailed analysis and formulating improvement actions for future through short and long term plans. The PAC is duly supported by Advisory Boards which consisted of experts and representatives of stake holders of the program such as Academics, Research, Industry, Parents, Alumni and Students along with internal representation. The Academic Coordinators, Module Coordinators, Course Coordinators, Class Teachers, Test Coordinators, Feedback Coordinators, PTG coordinators ensures the qualitative execution of Teaching Learning Process.

Scrupulous Planning – Resources & Events

  • Timely and Systematic execution - Academic Calendar, Event Calendar, Time Tables, Teaching plans, events schedules etc.
  • Meetings of Course and Module Coordinators- Curriculum discussions, resource requirements planning, activity planning, Outcomes- COs formulation, CO – Targets and attainment
  • HOD Meetings with Principal – Requirements Infrastructure Creation, equipments procurement, Faculty and appointments, trainings etc

Use of effective and relevant Teaching, Learning & Assessment Methods

  • Teaching using effective Content Delivery Methods (CDMs) relevant to contents and students abilities.
  • Learning through student centric performing activities in addition to classroom teaching – Projects, Posters, Quizzes, presentations, Group discussions, industrial visits
  • Assessment through Direct and Indirect Methods
  • Direct method- considering University performance, Unit tests, Online tests & In-Sem. examinations performance
  • Indirect Method- Considering the activity based evaluation using rubrics.

Effective use of learning Resources

  • Provision of up to date library with books, journals (print copy and online IEEE Full Subscription), periodicals, magazines with extended timings to access library & reading room.
  • Computer Center for online browsing of contents, lectures with 14 hrs access schedule
  • Digital library along with provision to access NPTEL, Science Direct, Innovation Suit and language laboratory.
  • Department Libraries for quick access of books, learning material such as models, projects, reports, posters, video lectures, guest speeches etc.

Regular Academic Reviews – Verification and validation of academic outcomes

  • Departmental Meetings for Academic Monitoring : Discuss the regularity of students, TL conduction issues, faculty feedback, performance of students and corrective actions.

  • Institute level Academic Review Meetings (ARM) : Discuss the observations of Departments, verify planned V/s Actual, Corrective actions and long term planning.

  • ISO – Management Review Meeting (MRM) : Analysis of targeted objectives of the performance such as quality and overall results, toppers etc. planning and corrective actions towards continual improvement

Concerned efforts towards student Counseling

  • Timely academic counseling by faculty, class teacher, Academic coordinator and HOD, Deans and Principal : Counseling of students for their performance issues over regular intervals of monitoring. Special support to students by HODs personal counseling at the time of submissions.

  • Parent Teacher Guardian (PTG Scheme) : Regular meetings between student and PTG for Parental understanding of student issues : Motivational, personal, professional development guidance, solutions to understanding problems, confidence building etc.

Delivery of Content Beyond Syllabus

  • Efforts towards identification of specific topics and delivery in addition to syllabus : Enable students with basic knowledge to support understanding of syllabus; Make students aware of recent trends in the domain of teaching .

  • Planning of Extra Lectures for addressing complexity of curriculum : Give additional inputs as tutorials, assignments, numerical or teaching , guest lecturers to address the complex topics or subjects.

Make up actions towards student performance improvement

Identification of Defaulters Student
  • Defaulter students who fail to regularly attend classes or perform and submit the assignments/ term work on time
  • Efforts - Counseling, frequent addressing, Parent interaction, reminders etc.

Identification of Weak Learners
  • Students performing below the minimum level of expectation in unit tests, university examinations
  • Efforts – Remedial Classes, Special guidance, makeup tests, Special makeup activities

Students Feedback – Appreciation, Improvement Actions

Conduction of Student Feedback - Online
  • Well designed parameters and process for teaching feedback
  • Feedback I and Feedback II conducted twice a semester
  • Corrective actions by faculty for improvement through counseling by HOD, Deans and Principal.
Suggestion Box – The mechanism to obtain complaints and suggestions from students.

Informal Feedback from students through PTGs, discussions with students, parents etc.
